HOME SAFETY ASSESMENTS

One of the consultation services offered through The OT Clinic is an assessment of the home. Clients experiencing deconditioning, recent falls, recovery from an accident, recovery from a neurological or orthopaedic condition which has compromised their mobility (and therefore safety), are candidates to receive this service.
Clients and families/caregivers are guided with recommendations to increase accessibility and safety through modifications, assistive devices or adaptive equipment. Clients who receive occupational therapy at The OT Clinic would have received functional training to include transferring to the toilet/tub/car. A personalized wheelchair prescription is provided (as indicated) so that the correct wheelchair is sought. Families/carers are also able to receive training on how to manage the client. |
